Waste Management
Asymchem contract Wastecare, who operate on the same site, to manage the majority of the waste produced from the laboratories and Pilot Plant.
Energy Recovery
When the waste is incinerated the gasses pass through the system and boils the cooling water which converts it into steam.
The steam from the process goes through an energy recovery system which produces electricity.
It is known as an expander, which is a twin screw turbine.
The percentage of the waste that is converted to energy is not 100% because there is some loss of the materials that pass through as IBA (incinerator bottom ash).
The solvents are used as “fuel” in the incinerator to replace raw materials such as gas and therefore are 100% “recycled”.
